Kathina is a Buddhist celebration which comes toward the finish of Vassa, the three-month stormy season retreat for Theravada Buddhists in Bangladesh (known as Kaṭhina Cībar Dān), Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and Vietnam.[2][3] The season during which a religious community might hold Kathina is one drawn out, starting after the full moon of the 11th month in the Lunar schedule (generally October).
